FIRE CONTROL-SUPPRESSION AND REPORTING

Provide telephone numbers of local fire suppression agencies and departments.  Also any other means of contacting these individuals for both training and reporting.

Encourage participation in local volunteer fire departments.

Do not try to give a complete course on wildland fire suppression.  Give the basics of how fires burn and of fire organization.  Relate instruction to slash treatment by fire.  What can the Tree Farmer do to insure that prescribed fires do not get away?  How can he cool down a potential escape fire?

Provide a guideline for reporting wildfires or slash fires “of concern”.  What information should the Tree Farmer provide to the fire dispatcher (or local department)?
