Landowners Forestry Workshop scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 11

The workshop will focus on how to get forestry work done on the ground and provide you with tips and techniques that will help you be a more active steward of your land. Efforts to clear Colorado’s national forests of bark-beetle-destroyed timber have been hampered by the troubles of the wood-products industry, the chief of the U.S. Forest Service said Friday. Read more


Form 1099-S

Just got a newly updated Form 1099-S and instructions from the IRS. In the case of a sale of timber, either by lump sum or pay-as-cut, the buyer is required to prepare and file the Form 1099-S by March 1st of the following year if the sale proceeds equal $600 or more. 

You should be able to get copies from the local IRS office or order them by phone -  see www.IRS.GOV

Penalty for not filing is $50 per each return not filed.
